Canadian and US Wheelchair Rugby Championships to be webcast live

This will be a busy week for wheelchair rugby players in North America. Both Canada and the United States will be holding their National Championships this weekend from April 27-29, 2012. And fans from around the world will be able to enjoy all of the action from both tournaments live via webcasts.

In the north the Canadian Nationals will be held in Montreal, Quebec in conjunction with the Defi Sportif, and will feature 10 teams competing in three divisions. Last year the Ontario Thunder defeated British Columbia in overtime for the D-I title, and the Ontario Lightning downed Saskatchewan for D-II bragging rights. Full tournament details and the playing schedule can be found online HERE. All games will be webcast live from Montreal at This Link.

To the south the United States Quad Rugby Association (USQRA) National Championship will be held in Louisville, Kentucky. Sixteen teams will compete in two divisions in hopes of bringing home a National title. In 2011 the Tucson Pterodactyls won the D-I "Mikkelsen Cup", while the Lakeshore Demolition captured the Division II title. This year Lakeshore is playing in Division I, leaving D-II wide open for a new champion to be crowned. The USQRA tournament schedule can be found HERE and details on the webcast can be found at This Link.

The IWRF will have representatives at both tournaments, and will be updating scores as possible via our Facebook and Twitter pages. If your not able to attend or watch the games online you can still follow the action on your smart phones.
