Game 15 Recap: AUS vs JPN

The Australian Steelers have cruised easily to the gold medal match of the London 2012 Paralympics with a 59-45 win over Japan. Australia was won all of their games by double digits and have established themselves as the favourites going into the finals.

Australia and Japan have played each other numerous times throughout the season, so both teams are very familiar with each others' style of play. Rugby fans were hoping for a close chess match of a game. Unfortunately, however, the Aussies dashed these hopes by dominating early on. The game followed the same script as similar matches. The first quarter was fairly close (14-11 for Australia), but in the second quarter the Aussies turned on the jets and surged to a 29-23 lead. While Japan was able to contain either Ryley Batt or Chris Bond, they struggled to stop them both. For the rest of the game, Australia maintained its momentum and finished strong.

Australia will play Canada in the gold medal match tomorrow at 2:15 pm local time. Australia has already beaten Canada once this tournament, but the Canadians are fired up after their one-point victory over the USA.
