Game 7 Recap: GBR vs FRA

The fans who packed the stadium this evening to see the home squad face off against France were in for a treat. The game was the most exciting one of the tournament so far and featured hard hits and incredible speed. France is a new team to the elite wheelchair rugby circuit, but they proved that they’re not one to take lightly. Superstar Ryadh Sallem was a one-man wrecking crew, alternating between putting players on the ground, being knocked over, or scoring, sometimes all at the same time. Great Britain, however, rose to the occasions and matched the French hit for hit. The lead see-sawed through much of the first half. The game was tied at the quarter and at the half, but GB eked out a one-point lead at the end of the third. Spurred on by a passionate crowd, Great Britain forced some key turnovers and capitalized to score. The game ended 57-50 in a match that was much closer than the final score suggested.
